Biography

Saint Hildemarca of Fécamp, also known as Childemarque, Childomarca, Hildemarque, Ildemarca, and Quildomarca, was a Benedictine nun and abbess at the Saint Eulalia convent in Bordeaux, France. She is best known for her role in governing the monastery founded by Saint Wandrille in Fécamp. Little is known about Saint Hildemarca's early life and upbringing. She dedicated herself to a life of prayer and service to God, joining the Benedictine order at the Saint Eulalia convent in Bordeaux. Her exceptional piety and devotion to her vocation made her a respected member of the community. Saint Wandrille, a holy man known for his asceticism and zealous commitment to religious life, founded a monastery in Fécamp. Impressed by Saint Hildemarca's reputation, he invited her to govern the monastery and help instill the Benedictine values he held dear.
