Saint Macrina the Younger (c. 327–379), revered as a pillar of early Christian monasticism in Cappadocia, was born into a family of profound holiness. Daughter of Saint Emmelia and Saint Basil the Elder, she was the sister of the renowned saints Basil the Great, Gregory of Nyssa, and Peter of Sebastea, and the granddaughter of Saint Macrina the Elder, necessitating the "the Younger" designation.
