Biography

Saint Martinian of Mauretania, also known as Saint Martinian the Martyr, was a highly revered Christian saint who lived during the early 5th century in North Africa. Historically, not much is known about his early life or background, but we do know that he was a victim of the persecutions during the reign of Genseric alongside hist brother Saint Saturian of Mauretania and companions.

Saint Martinian was enslaved by Arian Vandals in Mauretania, which was located in North Africa. The Arians were a heretical Christian sect that denied the divinity of Jesus Christ. Despite his enslavement, along with his three other brothers in the house of a Vandal, Martinian and the others were converted by another slave, Maxima.
