Biography

Saint Nanterius, also known as Nantier or Nantère, was a devoted monk and the Abbot of Saint-Mihiel Abbey in Lorraine, France. He was born in the early 11th century, and while the exact date of his birth is unknown, it is believed that he lived during the years leading up to his death around 1044. Early in his life, Nanterius felt a deep calling to dedicate himself to the Lord and to a life of prayer and contemplation. He entered the monastic life at the renowned Saint-Mihiel Abbey, located in the beautiful countryside of Lorraine. Displaying exceptional piety and devotion, he quickly rose through the ranks of the monastery, eventually becoming the Abbot. As Abbot of Saint-Mihiel Abbey, Nanterius was responsible for the spiritual guidance and administration of the abbey and its surrounding community.
